Young Alumni Bursary Fund

It is more important than ever to raise funds for bursary support for Corpus students.  As financial pressures on students from lower income backgrounds increase, contributions to bursary support from outside the College are being reduced; from October 2016 the Isaac Newton Trust will no longer support undergraduate bursaries through the Cambridge Bursary Scheme.  At the same time, we hope that our increasingly successful access and outreach programme will attract the brightest students to apply to Corpus, whatever their financial background.  Therefore, we need to ensure that we are able to provide sufficient bursary support, so that no student's time at the College is threatened by financial hardship.

We have set up the Young Alumni Bursary Fund so that the collective generosity of Corpus alumni under the age of forty can create an endowed bursary fund, making a transformative difference, in perpetuity, to the lives of Corpus students facing financial hardship.   We initially hope to raise £40,000, which at current rates would generate an annual income of £1,500, enough to fund one or two student bursaries each year.

Donations of all sizes will help us to reach our goal; if 80 young alumni gave £35 a month plus Gift Aid, we would raise £40,000 in less than a year.  We hope Corpus's young alumni will consider contributing to the fund at a level with which they feel comfortable, either through regular giving or a single gift.
